Class Description:
This is a pre-AP level course intended to bridge the gap between English 9 Honors and English 11 AP Language and Composition. This is an accelerated class that requires students to think deeply and richly about both fiction and non-fiction. The course offers a blend of classic and contemporary works from authors of
diverse backgrounds. The course places a heavy emphasis on a variety of reading and writing skills in preparation for the English Regents Exam as well as for
the SAT and ACT. Students will continue to build upon their analytical skills by completing AP-level tasks. They will complete several independent reading assignments, an extensive research project, as well as literary critiques. Students should expect a rigorous, challenging, active experience in the course.
